Delaney Rodriguez, 21, has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bail, prosecutors said.
A Holyoke woman has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man last month, while her boyfriend remains at large, prosecutors said.
Delaney Rodriguez, 21, is charged with murder in the April 18 shooting death of Robert Abreu, 31, court documents show.
Rodriguez was arrested in Springfield a few days after the shooting, and is currently being held without bail awaiting his preliminary hearing on May 22, court documents show.
Police are still searching for Rodriguez’s boyfriend, Daniel Medina, 22, who is accused of shooting Abreu, according to a statement of facts filed in court.
On the evening of April 18, police responded to the area of 139 Sargent Street for a person who had been shot, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office said.
Police found Abreu lying outside his truck suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck, police wrote.
The Public Prosecution said that he was transferred to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
According to investigators, Abreu was friends with Rodriguez’s upstairs neighbor. Police wrote that Rodriguez and his neighbor had an ongoing dispute due to “repeated disturbances and prior domestic incidents that occurred inside Rodriguez’s apartment.”
On the evening of April 18, Rodriquez and Medina allegedly opened Abreu’s car door and began physically assaulting him while he was sitting in the driver’s seat. The struggle continued until Medina shot Abreu in the neck, the statement of facts said.
“Anyone with information regarding Medina’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office at 413-505-5993,” the DA said.
Rodriguez’s attorney could not be reached for comment Monday evening.
