(BCN) – A Suisun City attorney has been disbarred after pleading guilty to multiple counts of serious misconduct involving 11 clients and their families, a California state bar court announced Thursday.
According to the Office of the Chief Trial Counsel (OCTC), White embezzled client funds, made false statements in court, neglected criminal cases, and practiced law while disqualified.
In one case, White allegedly received $10,000 to represent a client with mental health issues, but deposited the money into her personal account and spent it on personal expenses before doing any legal work, the California state bar court said. She missed several court hearings and failed to get her money back.
In another case, she reportedly accepted $10,000 in cash without a written agreement and falsely told the court that she had hired an investigator. Her failure to act led to her client being arrested and imprisoned for more than two years.
The OCTC noted that White was placed on inactive status in October 2020 for failing to meet continuing legal education requirements, but he continued to appear in court, delaying proceedings in at least one case.
