South Carolina personal trainer Elena Moore goes missing, last spotted walking toward wooded area

Police in South Carolina have released new photos and details as they search for a woman who disappeared last week.

Elena Katherine Moore, 39, has not been seen since she left the Planet Fitness gym in Lexington, a west Columbia suburb, on Thursday evening, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Authorities said Moore checked into Planet Fitness around 6:40 p.m. and was later seen walking away from the facility toward a wooded area behind a nearby Lowe’s Home Improvement store.

Newly obtained video shows Moore walking across the Publix parking lot at 100 Old Cherokee Road on Thursday, police said Tuesday afternoon. Police said the video shows her walking toward Old Cherokee Road at 9:17 p.m., wearing the same olive green hoodie with black sweatpants that she was seen wearing when she left Planet Fitness.

She was reported missing the next day.

Police said they are releasing new photos of Moore to increase the likelihood that someone will recognize her and remember meeting her in the past few days. Those newly released photos include images taken on the front door camera a week before Moore disappeared.

Police told ABC News that Moore works as a personal trainer and that her sudden absence was “out of character.”

Moore’s girlfriend, Lauren Beasley, told Fox News Digital that she last spoke with the missing woman a month ago, noting that she seemed completely normal.

“She didn’t say anything personal about anything she was going through. She got married last year, but she didn’t say anything about her relationship or her job or anything personal,” Paisley said.

Beasley added that Moore stopped posting on social media about a month ago, which is not normal.

“She is very active on social media, so her radio silence over the past month is out of the ordinary,” she said.

Brannon Slice, Moore’s husband, said in a comment on a now-deleted Facebook post that his wife was “not feeling well.”

On Friday, investigators deployed a drone and conducted an initial search in the area where Moore was last seen but found no trace of her.

Missy Silcox, public information officer for the Lexington Police Department, told Fox News Digital there was no doubt foul play and said there were no searches planned for Moore on Tuesday.

On Monday, Lexington police joined several local and state agencies in a more extensive search of wooded areas behind a Lowe’s store and Planet Fitness. The operation included assistance from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, the South Carolina Department of Law Enforcement, the Department of Natural Resources, and other emergency response agencies.

Police stressed that the search was not a recovery attempt, but rather a systematic attempt to eliminate a possible location where Moore could be.

“No trace of Ms. Moore was found during the operation,” Lexington Police Chief Terence Green said in an update.

Moore is described as a white female who is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs approximately 120 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing an olive green zip-up hoodie and black sweatpants. Investigators said they were not sure if she had her cell phone.

Authorities asked anyone with information about Moore’s whereabouts to contact investigators at 803-358-7271 or Midlands Crimestoppers.
