AUSTIN (KXAN) — It sure doesn’t feel like fall has even begun in Central Texas, but we’re already taking a look at the final month of fall meteorology forecast. As a reminder, the weather winter begins on December 1st and lasts until the end of February.
The preliminary forecast for November was released Thursday from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center, and it calls for near-normal precipitation, but still above-average temperatures.
What is normal in November?
High temperatures in November typically drop from the upper 70s to start the month down to the upper 60s by the end of the month.
Lows typically drop from the mid 50s to mid 40s late in the month.
November is typically the fourth coolest month of the year and the sixth wettest with 2.92 inches of rain on average.
The drought continues to worsen
The latest Drought Monitor shows “extreme” level entry 3 out of 4 droughts in parts of metro Austin as rapidly worsening drought continues.
Without wetter than normal conditions to address the recent drought, we do not expect any significant improvement in the drought next month.
