Magdaleno Herrera was arrested for allegedly owning and operating rooster fighting ring in Crosby, documents show

CROSBY, Texas (KTRK) — A Mont Belvieu man was arrested after a cockfighting ring was busted in Crosby on Saturday, according to documents.

Magdaleno Herrera, 45, is accused of owning and operating a cockfighting ring in Crosby, court records show.

ABC13 first reported on the rooster fighting ring after the Harris County Sheriff’s Office busted it on Saturday.

About 300 live roosters and about 50 dead roosters were found on the property, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

He thanked Harris County Veterinary Public Health and the Houston Humane Society/SPCA for their assistance in the investigation.

HCSO said citations have been issued to five bystanders and a follow-up investigation is ongoing.
