DENVER (KDVR) — Longmont High School The student was detained After he was found in possession of a gun while entering the campus Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Longmont Public Safety said a student resource officer at Skyline High School was notified of the student’s social media posts with what appeared to be a gun. After interviewing the student, they said he was sold to a student at Longmont High School.
Skyline High School shared information with the Longmont High School SRO and administration, and staff were able to find the student when he arrived on campus around 1:25 p.m., Longmont Public Safety said.
The student was taken to the school office for an inspection. Longmont Public Safety said a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun was recovered from the student, but it was unloaded, and no ammunition was found on the student.
Longmont Public Safety said no threats were made to students or staff, and there was no indication the firearm would be used on school property.
The student was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Boulder.
