Shocking video captured the moment a train collided with a truck carrying a septic tank, sending sewage spraying onto a Virginia road and leaving the driver with life-threatening injuries.
The man driving the car was seriously injured after he ran a stop sign and drove his car onto train tracks Thursday in Chesapeake, according to a preliminary report. Findings shared by police.
As the ill-fated truck carrying a huge silver septic tank was driving over the tracks at around 4 p.m., it was hit by the oncoming locomotive, as seen in the video.
The truck spun out of control and crashed into a tree as dark sewage sprayed into the air.
When the destroyed car finally landed on the side of the road, the foul-smelling toxic liquid continued to leak into the street.
“Holy-t! Holy-k!” The man who captured the horrific footage, Azoria Odaniyil, screamed in horror. “Oh my God, what is this?”
Paramedics rushed to the scene and took the driver to the hospital. WAVY reported that his condition was stable as of Friday.
The authorities did not reveal any other information about his identity.
Police said the dramatic incident created a “minor danger situation”, but there was no immediate threat to the public.
No one was injured on the train, according to Norfolk Southern.
The incident is being investigated and the Chesapeake Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for further information.
