Abigail Throckmorton, 23, faces a murder charge in connection with a fatal crash on the Turnpike in February, prosecutors said.

An Ashland woman faces a murder charge for her role in a fatal car crash in Southborough earlier this year.

Abigail Throckmorton, 23, is charged with negligent homicide and negligent operation of a vehicle. She is also accused of numerous civil violations: marked lane violation, speeding, failure to wear a seat belt, failure to notify the Registry of Motor Vehicles of a change of address, and driving the wrong way on a state highway, court documents show.

Throckmorton has pleaded not guilty to all charges, court records show.

She was released on her own recognizance with conditions that she remain sober, remain within state limits and not drive, prosecutors said.

Just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 20, Throckmorton was driving her Subaru on the wrong shoulder on the Turnpike (Route 9 East), police wrote in a statement of facts.

The posted speed limit on Turnpike Road is 50 mph. Throckmorton was traveling at 70 mph, the document said.

Southborough police wrote that Throckmorton nearly collided with a white Jeep Wrangler, but the Jeep was able to get out of the way in time.

Throckmorton then crashed into the Nissan, killing the driver, Crystal Johnson-Clemente, 37, police wrote.

Throckmorton is scheduled to return to court June 30 for a pretrial hearing, court records show.
