When is the Pride Parade 2026? Houston festival and parade moved to June 6 due to World Cup, taps New Orleans’ Big Freedia as host

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – For the first time in Houston Pride 365Organizers said that the festival, which dates back 48 years, will move its festival and parade to early June, to start Pride Month, instead of closing it.

The 2026 event will be on Saturday, June 6, in celebration of the FIFA World Cup-related celebrations later in the month, when the Pride Parade would normally be held.

The city of Houston will host seven World Cup matches, starting on Sunday, June 14, and ending on Saturday, July 4.

However, Pride Houston organizers said they view the early start as an opportunity to “expand Pride Month engagement,” adding that the group plans to host a month-long series of Pride programs that “expand community engagement, strengthen advocacy, and highlight the diversity and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community in greater Houston.”

The official 2026 parade theme is “Without Borders,” which represents expansion, upliftment and breaking boundaries across society, culture and influence, according to organizers.

“We’ve fought hard for every step forward, and we deserve to celebrate these victories loudly,” says Kerry Ann Morrison, president of Pride Houston 365. “Every event, from Soaked to Rock the Runway, Eden, Festival and Parade, is intentional.” “Houston Pride is a place where our culture, our voices and our joy come together unapologetically.”

The multi-day celebration is also expected to feature some big names, including Big Freedia the Queen Diva, a New Orleans rapper and artist known for her throwback music career and collaborations with Beyoncé and Drake. You will serve as the official host.

Singer Don Richard, former member of the group Danity Kane, Ha Sizzle, and more are ready for special performances as well.

The 2026 Pride Houston 365 show will be on Saturday, June 6, much earlier than usual. Prior to the show, a number of events will be held open to various communities.

The 2025 parade was attended by an estimated 200,000 people, according to organizers.

Although the above-mentioned parade and festivities are scheduled to take place earlier, there is still a lot to celebrate as the rollout begins. Black like this festivalcreated in partnership with Pride Houston 365.

The festival will be held on Saturday, June 27 at Ironworks, located at 711 Milby Street.

Houston artist, activist, and Urban Souls Dance Company founder Harrison Guy will serve as the creative and production director for the Black Like That Festival.

The theme of the Black Like That Festival will focus on Black women and is expected to feature national headliners, Houston talent, local vendors and businesses.

The festival was also scheduled because it would take place on the eve of the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

Pride Houston is the third largest Pride event in the United States, and among the top 20 internationally. It is also the second largest event in Houston annually, behind the Houston Rodeo.

Houston’s first gay parade was held in 1979, commemorating the raid on New York’s Stonewall Inn 10 years earlier.
