The Fourth of July weekend is here, and if you’re planning for Independence Day, you may want to know which stores and businesses will be open or closed during the holiday. From retail to restaurants, here’s what you need to know before heading to Day 4.

It is recommended to check local store hours as they may vary by location.

What’s open and closed on July 4th, 2026:


Restaurants:

This chain of restaurants will be open on July 4:

  • Applebee’s
  • I raise
  • BG Restaurant & beer house
  • Wild buffalo wings
  • Cheesecake Factory
  • Chilis
  • Chick-fil-A
  • Chipotle
  • Barrel crushing
  • IHOP
  • In-N-Out Burger
  • McDonald’s
  • Olive Garden
  • Outback Steakhouse Restaurant
  • Starbucks
  • Sweet green
  • TGI Fridays
  • Waffle House
  • Wendy
  • Whataburger

Retail stores:

Most retail and grocery stores will be open on the Fourth of July except Costco. Others may work reduced or limited hours. Be sure to check your local store for hours. The following stores will be open:

  • Aldi (discounted hours)
  • CVS (reduced hours)
  • Dollar General
  • Hip
  • Home Depot
  • Kroger and its sister chains (including Harris Teeter, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Mariano’s and others)
  • Louie
  • Publix
  • Sam’s Club (reduced hours)
  • goal
  • TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Home Goods (discounted hours)
  • Trader Joe’s (discounted hours)
  • Walgreens
  • Walmart
  • Whole Foods (reduced hours)

Postal and shipping services:

  • fedex: FedEx office locations will be open with modified business hours, but FedEx will not operate delivery services except for designated and critical deliveries across the commerce network.

  • UPS: UPS Store locations will be closed on July 4, and there will be no pickup or delivery services except for UPS Express Critical.

  • US Postal Service: Since the 4th is a federal holiday, USPS and other non-essential government agencies will be closed.
