Western Conference Contenders Have ‘Internally Discussed’ Jaylen Brown Trade Amid Celtics Star’s Uncertain Future

Jaylen Brown’s future with the Boston Celtics still remains very uncertain. The relationship between Brown and the front office has grown increasingly tense. And it made him the center of widespread trade conversations, with several teams looking to capitalize on a major opportunity.

Now, a Western Conference contender has joined the mix after holding internal discussions on a potential deal.

NBA Insider Reveals Denver Nuggets’ Interest in Jaylen Brown

Insider Marc Stein shared the development in the latest edition of “The Stein Line.” The report reveals that the Denver Nuggets have at least considered pursuing Brown.

“Sources say that the Nuggets have at least internally discussed whether they have the asset wherewithal to join the trade chase for Boston’s Jaylen Brown, but the Nuggets have yet to emerge as a bona fide landing spot for the Celtics’ MVP candidate,” Stein and Jake Fischer wrote.

For now, Denver has yet to establish itself as a frontrunner.

Interestingly, the report came just days after ESPN insider Shams Charania revealed that Boston is fielding interest from multiple suitors. Charania dropped the update during live coverage.

“The Boston Celtics are actively engaged in trade talks surrounding Jaylen Brown with multiple interested teams,” he said.

The comment confirmed that the situation around Brown is moving quickly. Denver’s interest, though, is not hard to understand.

It has been only three years since the Nuggets captured the championship, but they have since fallen behind several top Western Conference rivals. A first-round exit this summer brought urgency to the forefront.

The front office now needs a significant move to keep Nikola Jokić committed to signing a new contract extension. Now pairing Brown with Jokić would create a powerful duo capable of competing at the top.

If that combination extends Denver’s championship window, the risk would be well worth taking.

And Brown also checks nearly every box for what the Nuggets need.

He brings elite two-way play, proven championship experience, and is coming off the strongest season of his career after averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game.

His ability to score without dominating the ball also makes him an ideal partner alongside Jokic.

Having said that, the real obstacle is Boston’s asking price. The Celtics reportedly want at least four first-round picks, plus players who can help right away, making any deal incredibly expensive.

And Denver has only one tradable first-round pick available in 2031, leaving the front office with limited flexibility.

As a result, any pursuit would require creativity, and landing Brown would likely force the Mile High City to sacrifice much of its supporting cast.

That would leave the Nuggets with a star-heavy roster and far less depth, increasing the pressure on Brown and Jokić to carry the team throughout the season and playoffs.
