Vice President J.D. Vance told Air Force Academy graduates that they should “never submit” to artificial intelligence while making life-and-death decisions — and that killing decisions “should be made by humans.”

“Artificial intelligence will inevitably change war,” said one Marine veteran. “It already has. But one of the things that makes Americans unique… is that we wage war fairly.”
“If future warfare is to live up to the moral values of our ancestors, then decisions about life and death must be made by humans, not machines,” Vance added.
“I ask you to be jealous and selfish about your role as a decision maker in war. Use technology to make you better, but never submit to it… Your minds but also your hearts are the opposite of artificial.”
