Recently, NFL podcaster Tony Farmer asked, “Why are so many people willing to talk off the record about the Russini – Vrabel story, but so few are willing to talk on the record? What exactly is the fear?”
NFL writer Crissy Froyd, who has been one of the most outspoken media members about the Russini-Vrabel scandal, responded to explain why others aren’t speaking out.
“Too many people doing similar things who are afraid of being exposed, or they’re being threatened with their jobs if they talk,” Froyd wrote. “I’ve held freelance roles where I was specifically told not to talk about Russini or that I could be let go. After Russini resigned from The Athletic, Froyd spoke out and USA TODAY terminated her contractor agreement. Hudson, who has posted about the media’s handling of the Russini-Vrabel scandal in the past, retweeted Froyd’s post on Tuesday.

The latest twist in the Russini scandal saw the former NFL insider get caught in a lie after she bragged about getting out of a ticket during a traffic stop by FaceTiming an NFL head coach. However, once bodycam footage of the interaction surfaced, the truth was revealed.

While she name-dropped Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell and former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll, she never called anyone. She showed her text messages with O’Connell, but her story about O’Connell telling the cop to let her go because she’s a “good citizen” was completely fabricated.
For Hudson, she has been most interested in the media’s hypocrisy, and she has pointed this out several times. Previously, she wrote of the scandal, “We’re not talking about this? Why not, @ProFootballTalk?“
While Hudson has faced relentless tabloid scrutiny and social media trolling for dating Belichick, many reporters and mainstream outlets have been silent on Russini’s actions. Even when police bodycam footage exposed Russini’s lie, some major outlets didn’t cover it.
