Teen airlifted to Mass. hospital after bike jump goes wrong in N.H.

Officials say the 17-year-old overshot the jump and landed on flat ground.

A 17-year-old from Jaffray, New Hampshire, was airlifted to a hospital in Massachusetts on Sunday after suffering serious injuries during a bike jump in New Ipswich.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation officers, along with other emergency personnel, responded to the incident around 6 p.m., the department said in a statement. He releases. It happened on private property.

“Investigation at the scene revealed that he overshot the jump and landed the bike on flat ground,” Fish and Game said.

First responders requested a medical helicopter due to the severity of the teen’s injuries. A UMass Memorial LifeFlight helicopter picked him up from the New Ipswich Transfer Station and transported him to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, officials said.

The teen was wearing a helmet. There was no further information about his condition.
