Music superstar Taylor Swift, or now known to many people as Mrs. Travis Kelce, wife of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, has been on a pretty good run recently.
Besides getting married at Madison Square Garden in New York City to Kelce and in front of nearly 1,000 invited guests, Swift also got some other good news. Swift won a court battle with a Florida-based poet on Monday.
Taylor Swift Comes Out Victorious in Court Case
According to a report from Variety on Monday, a federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a Florida poet who claimed that Swift copied phrases from her work.
The poet also claimed that Swift used these phrases in many of her songs.
“The plaintiff, Kimberly Marasco, published a poetry book that sold 3,000 copies globally,” according to Variety. “The judge concluded that Marasco’s poems ‘do not contain protectable expression and that, regardless, Plaintiff has failed to plausibly plead copying.’”

The decision on the poet’s lawsuit against Swift was sent down by United States District Judge Aileen Cannon.

In her ruling, Cannon wrote in part, “In sum, none of Plaintiff’s twelve counts identifies any protected expression. Although that conclusion is sufficient to require dismissal, the Court proceeds to the next step because Plaintiff’s independent failure to plead copying further confirms that dismissal is warranted.”
Swift and Kelce tied the knot last Friday night, July 3. Guests played games all night for a chance to win raffle prizes, including Cartier watches.

With this lawsuit behind her and still celebrating her wedding, Swift can now shift her focus to even more music. Oh, and with the 2026 NFL season just around the corner, Swift can start making plans to attend Kelce’s games.
She was a regular visitor to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium last season, usually seen sitting with Donna Kelce, Travis’ mother.
Kelce and Swift have been dating for some time, so seeing them get married isn’t too surprising. Both are quite successful in their own fields, whether it’s music for Swift or football for Kelce. He’s won three Super Bowl championships with the Chiefs, being a key target for Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
