“Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill deleted a photo showing President Trump as dead and posted a new photo to “apologize” on Thursday.
Hamill faced backlash for posting on Bluesky what looked like Trump lying on top of a grave a few days after the attempt on his life at a White House Correspondents’ Association dinner with the caption “If only.”
“He should live long enough to witness his devastating and inevitable loss in the midterms, to be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, and to be impeached, convicted, and humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize that he will be disgraced in the history books, forever,” Hamill wrote.
The White House spoke out against the post in a statement to Fox News Digital at the time.
“Barack Hussein Obama just appeared in a video with this deranged lunatic three days ago. And now this same person is calling for the death of President Trump,” White House spokesman Davis Engel told Fox News Digital in a statement.
“Why don’t Obama and the Democrats condemn this disgusting call to violence?” he asked.
By Thursday, the original post had been deleted and replaced with New job Features an image of Trump with wind-swept hair.
“Edited for clarity: ‘He must live long enough to… be held accountable for… his crimes.'” “Actually, I would wish him the opposite of death, but apologies if you find the photo inappropriate,” Hamill wrote.
Hamill has been a frequent critic of the president, going so far as to say he is “ashamed” that America elected Trump twice.
“He snuck in one thing the first time — when he gets re-elected, this is on us,” Hamill said on the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast in September.
