Shady Grove spinoff restaurant to open in 2026

Austin (Kxan) – A little shadya subsidiary restaurant of Shady Groveheld a groundbreaking ceremony for its first location in Kyle, Texas.

The idea for the restaurant came from longtime Shady Grove owner Rusty Zagst, the local owner and operator of A Little Shady.

“We are thrilled to open our first A Little Shady store,” Zagst said. “This concept has been five years in the making, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to bring it to life than Kyle. The support and encouragement we’ve received so far has been incredibly meaningful, and we’re excited to give back by serving this community.”

Shady Grove, which was located off Barton Spring Road in South Austin, closed permanently in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The restaurant opened in 1992.

Zagst first announced its plan to open the restaurant in July.

The restaurant is expected to serve burgers, frozen shady thangs, green cheese fries, grilled wings, fried chicken and a hippie sandwich.

“Guests will enjoy the welcoming design that blends old-fashioned road appeal with modern conveniences, featuring self-service ordering, an inviting indoor dining area, and spacious patio seating for gatherings both large and small.”

The Shady Bistro will be built one block west of Interstate 35 at Farm-to-Market 1626. It will offer indoor seating and patio seating.
