(KRON) – A 21-year-old Santa Rosa woman allegedly led police on a high-speed chase on Highway 101 on Saturday after a Petaluma Police Department officer tried to pull her over for speeding.
A Petaluma officer initially stopped Aleah Trail for speeding on the northbound side of Highway 101, north of the East Washington Street Bridge, at 10:02 a.m., however, she sped away moments later.
“After a brief interaction between Trail and the officer, she suddenly fled the scene, speeding at a high rate,” the Petaluma Police Department said. “The officer returned to his patrol car, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.”
Police said the chase exceeded 100 mph as the trail continued on Highway 101 to Santa Rosa. Trail then exited Highway 101 at River Road and continued to lead officers on a chase through city streets.
Trail took officers to the 2100 block of Dennis Lane in Santa Rosa, where she stopped the vehicle and was arrested without resistance. She was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on a felony charge of reckless evading.
“The Petaluma Police Department reminds the public that fleeing from law enforcement is dangerous and illegal,” the Petaluma Police Department said. “A vehicle pursuit poses risks to the driver, officers, and members of the community. If a police officer receives a signal from you to stop, please stop safely and comply with legal instructions.”
