(Crohn’s) – If you’re visiting San Francisco or know someone who is, you’ve probably been recommended this Mexican restaurant on 25th and Mission. In the opinion of many locals and visitors, La Taqueria is home to the best burritos in town.
This idea has perhaps been further validated by those who share this opinion (sorry, El Farolito stans).
La Taqueria is named in Michelin guide 2025, the restaurant announced this week in Social media sharing.
“AMIGOS! We are so honored to be part of the Michelin Guide 2025. This recognition goes to every hand who has worked in our kitchen, every guest who has stood in line, and every family who has shared our food across the generations!” reads the post. “From the Mission District to the MICHELIN Guide, we are proud to continue representing Mexican flavor and tradition in San Francisco.
“Thank you to our community for the love and support over the years. We do this with pride, from the heart, and with Mexico in our souls!”
The burrito place, which opened in 1973 in San Francisco’s Mission District, always has long lines. It’s not often that you don’t see a long line winding through the La Taqueria building.
A La Taqueria fan commented on the Instagram post of the Michelin ad.
“Amazing,” the fan wrote. “Although I’m not keen on long lines.”
La Taqueria responded: “Don’t worry, they won’t be around longer than they already are!”
This isn’t the first big recognition for La Taqueria owner Miguel Jara. The 83-year-old chef previously won a James Beard Award.
In 2014, La Taqueria was named America’s Best Burrito Thirty-five eight.
Located at 2889 Mission St., La Taquiera is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. on Sundays.
