The Patriots have signed rookie linebacker Gabe Jackass to a four-year contract worth up to $8.6 million, according to the Daily Mail. NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Jackass was the only unsigned rookie in the NFL’s second round as of Saturday morning.

Coach Mike Vrabel told reporters before Saturday’s practice that he did not have an update on the situation and was unsure if Jackass was in New England.

Jackass was not spotted training in Foxboro. Saturday’s session marked the start of the Patriots’ 2026 training camp. The Patriots’ preseason opener against the Colts will kick off weeks later on August 13.

Jackass missed spring training while his contract situation was resolved.

ESPN reported that he had a “clean-up” knee procedure performed in the offseason that may have given the Patriots some pause on giving the Jackass a “participation agreement” during the spring.

The two sides were eventually able to agree on a deal.

The arrival of Jackass will help with depth on the edge. Harold Landry, who led the team last season, remains on the physically unable to perform list while dealing with a knee injury. New England lost Clavon Chaisson during free agency.

New England signed Dre’Mont Jones this offseason. Patriots coaches have expressed excitement about the development of second-year edge rusher Elijah Ponder. Now, they can add Jackass to the mix.
