The jury found Luis Rosado, 53, guilty of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
A North Adams man was convicted and sentenced Tuesday for stabbing his wife to death in 2022.
The jury found Luis Rosado, 53, guilty of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, court documents show.
Rosado was convicted of killing his wife, Jillian Tatro, 38, in her apartment, according to a statement from the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
On May 28, 2022, Rosado and Tatro, who married on January 3, 2022, went to her apartment in North Adams. That night, Tatro’s son arrived at his mother’s apartment and watched Rosado leave the building. Rosado told the son that Tatro left with a friend, the prosecutor said.
The son and Rosado left the apartment area, prosecutors said.
After being unable to contact his mother, the son returned to Tatro’s apartment the next evening. The public prosecutor said that Tatro’s son found his mother’s body inside the apartment.
“Law enforcement entered the apartment and observed Ms. Tatro lying on her back near the doorway. She had clearly suffered some type of stab wound,” the prosecutor’s office wrote.
The medical examination concluded that Tatro had been stabbed 10 times, cut six times, and suffered blunt trauma to her head, according to the public prosecutor.
Through cell phone data collection and witness interviews, police identified Rosado as a suspect, the district attorney’s office said.
“Today, my thoughts are with Ms. Tatro’s children and her family. Ms. Tatro’s son demonstrated tremendous poise and courage during his trial testimony,” District Attorney Timothy Shugrue said. “Her death is a tragic example of the deadly consequences of domestic violence and the lasting impact these crimes have on families and communities.”
Rosado’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday night.
