HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Tragedy was averted in northwest Harris County after a truck pulling a horse-drawn trailer caught fire while traveling on the highway, according to Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.
Pictures published by the police office showed the charred remains of the truck on the closed road, while horses were resting safely on the nearby grass.
Photos showed the aftermath of a car fire on the Grand Parkway in northwest Harris County on Saturday.

According to the constable’s office, the accident occurred Saturday afternoon on the Grand Parkway near SH 249.
Deputies and fire personnel said they arrived to find the vehicle completely engulfed, but thanks to the driver’s quick thinking, the attached horse trailer was detached, and the horses were moved away from the flames.
The horses, which were being carried in the trailer attached to the sinking truck, were quickly moved to safety, according to the constable’s office.

The toll road was closed while first responders extinguished the fire and opened the road, the constable’s office said.
