DENVER (KDVR) — A new resource center has been created to support students, staff and community members following the shooting at Evergreen High School on September 10.
Created by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the National Center on Mass Violence Evergreen Virtual Resilience Center, A website with a number of resources for students, staff, family and community members affected by the shooting.
The Evergreen Virtual Resilience Center provides information and support related to:
- Victims and social services
- Social networking and empowerment
- Health and wellness
- Trauma management
the First Judicial District Crime Victim Compensation Program It also provides financial assistance to qualified victims and witnesses of crimes to help cover the costs of treatment, medical care and lost wages. The program was created to support victims and witnesses in recovery by reducing financial burdens.
If community members need additional services or resources, they are asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit. During business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., people are asked to contact the Victim Services Unit at (303) 271-5339 or victimservices@jeffco.us.
