Heading into his second year, New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo is getting all the relevant attention he needs. The bandwagon of expectations now circles around a Super Bowl title, a long-awaited dream the Giants have been chasing for more than a decade. According to former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, Skattebo will play a key role alongside young quarterback Jaxson Dart in the spotlight.
His first year with the team last season was plagued by injuries, but his availability through Week 8 proved significant. What stood out the most was his rapport with Dart, as both were selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Don’t judge them by their 2-3 record together because the dynamic is far more nuanced and significant.
Robert Griffin III Reveals What Makes Cam Skattebo So Unique
While speaking on his show Outta Pocket, the veteran floated ambitious predictions for the Giants. According to him, Skattebo’s ability to penetrate defenses and make plays downfield will prove decisive.
So much so that Giants fans can expect the duo to finally end the franchise’s Super Bowl drought since the Eli Manning era in 2012.

“This is a running back who runs through brick walls, literally uses his helmet right before the games, and anytime you have a guy like that, you know he’s like missing a screw or two, like he’s a little crazy,” Griffin chuckled while proudly speaking about Skattebo’s physicality in a reshared clip.
“One of his teammates even said the guy is legit an idiot, and they meant that in an endearing way, like a loving way,” he added.

This was particularly visible when the Giants pulled off a solid upset win over the Eagles in Week 6 last season. Of the total five touchdowns, Skattebo scored three while rushing for 98 yards.
It was more or less a recreation of his dominant showdown during his college days at Sacramento State.
The 2026 season will prove crucial for both Skattebo and Dart, who is being viewed as the next franchise quarterback. Ten starters have tried their luck since Eli Manning’s two Super Bowl victories over Tom Brady and the Patriots. Under new head coach John Harbaugh, the Giants are set to play nine home games and eight road games. They will kick off the season against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13 in a primetime matchup at MetLife Stadium.
