Mikaela Shiffrin’s Fiancé Aleksander Kilde Announces Next Race in Comeback Season

Mikaela Shiffrin’s fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, announced his next race in the 2025-26 season, as he continues to build back his form after his long recovery journey. Kilde was out of the competition in the 2024-25 season due to the injuries he suffered in the 2023-24 season.

Kilde made his comeback to the ongoing season in Super-G in Copper Mountain on November 27, 2025, finishing 24th. He next competed in the downhill event in Beaver Creek in December, finishing 11th, followed by a DNF in the Super-G event.

Shiffrin’s fiancé, Kilde, suffered a near-fatal crash during the Wengen downhill event in the 2023-24 season. He was airlifted from the venue and admitted to the hospital with a dislocated shoulder, a lacerated calf, and other injuries. He underwent an initial surgery for nerve damage in his calf and the torn ligaments in his shoulder.

His shoulder required additional surgical procedures, keeping him off the slopes for nearly two years. However, during his rehabilitation, he continued to make steady progress in the gym and gradually rediscovered his rhythm on the practice slopes.

In a recent Instagram story, Kilde announced that his upcoming race of the season will be the Super-G in Livigno.

“Livigno tomorrow CET 11:30 Bib 27”

Throughout the Norwegian skier’s recovery journey, Shiffrin has been an integral presence, supporting him from his hospital bed to grinding alongside him in the gym. She also faced an abdominal injury during the 2024-25 season, sitting out of 11 races. However, upon her return, she extended her World Cup win tally to 101 and added four more wins this season.

Shiffrin’s fiancé, Kilde, has had episodes of mental health struggles during his recovery journey. He even considered retirement as it seemed more convenient to him at that moment, not having to prove anything to anyone.

However, he missed the racer’s lifestyle, desiring to be on the slow, feeling the cold and the wind, treating the mountains as his own, and skiing in his signature speed disciplines.

Kilde and Shiffrin took a couple of vacations during the off-season and announced their engagement on social media in April 2024. The couple often shares their love and admiration for each other through social media posts and has addressed questions about their wedding. They have said that while marriage is in their future, there is no rush, as both are currently focused on their careers.
