HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A robbery suspect was taken to the hospital after being shot at a northwest Harris County intersection, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting was reported in the 12200 block of North Houston Pammel Road on Tuesday morning and occurred inside a Tesla, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
SkyEye13 was above the scene of the shooting at the intersection of Bammel North Houston Road and Kleinbrook and Champion Forest Drives.
The suspect, who was a passenger in the Tesla, was seriously injured after being shot, HCSO said. They added that the victim of the robbery, the driver, was also taken to the hospital, but they did not mention his condition.
The two men, said to be in their early to mid-20s, recently became acquainted and met to film social media content, officials said.
Major Bin Qatrib said the two men worked as social media influencers and were armed.
Qatrib said that when the passenger pulled out his gun and tried to rob the driver, a short fight broke out, and the driver shot the passenger. He added that the passenger tried to escape from the Tesla car, but collapsed on the road.
The shooter, although he was taken to the hospital, did not appear to have been hit by bullets, according to Qatrib.
Qatrib said that the names of the men involved had not been revealed at the time, and that the investigation was ongoing.
HCSO said the northbound lanes of Pammel North Houston Road were closed for the investigation.
Officials initially said the shooting happened at a Valero gas station, but later clarified it happened on the road while waiting at a red light.
