Man charged after showing up to H-E-B with gun, prompting brief ‘secure’ mode, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A man was arrested and charged after he showed up at an H-E-B store carrying a gun, creating a brief “safe” situation, according to the Houston Police Department.

SkyEye13 was over an active scene at an H-E-B store after a security guard reported a man with a gun on store property.

SkyEye13 was flying over the active scene Tuesday evening, showing law enforcement vehicles gathered at the store’s entrance.

HPD confirmed to Eyewitness News on Wednesday that they responded to the store at the intersection of Fountain View Drive and San Felipe Street.

Investigators reported that the man who had been asked to leave the property multiple times was seen on the store property again, and when a security guard approached him, he pointed a gun at the guard.

A security guard rushed into the store and activated the business to “safe” mode, HPD said.

According to investigators, the suspect’s vehicle was later found with a gun inside in the 2500 block of Yorktown Avenue.

The suspect was identified by HPD as Hunter Elliott Molina, 27, and was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Eyewitness News reached out to HEB, which referred all questions to HPD.
