During Jimmy Butler’s 15-year NBA career, he played for five different teams. But it seems he has found his home.
according to ESPN NBA insider Anthony Slater, Butler said he wants to retire with the Warriors.
“End is a bad word, but that’s where I want to end up,” Butler told Slater. “Retired here. This organization is top notch. It’s the best. Keep your money. It’s the best. You’re playing with one of the greatest players of all time. I’m grateful to be able to watch this. I want to be able to do my part, and get this organization back to the top where we belong.”
Butler is about to enter his third season with the Warriors after being traded midway through the 2024-2025 NBA season.
Butler appeared in just 68 games for Golden State after the 2025-26 season was cut short due to an ACL injury he suffered in January.
When Butler arrived, he went 23-8, propelling the Warriors into the playoffs, where they upset the Rockets in the first round.
That playoff run was derailed when Steph Curry was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Butler and Curry have appeared in just 60 games together since his arrival.
“It sucks because we’ve never been healthy together,” Butler told Slater. “Part of winning is being healthy. You didn’t see us this healthy at the end in the playoffs when it mattered. Let’s be healthy and then all that [doubting] It can be heard.”

As Butler prepares to return from his injury and resume playing alongside Curry and Draymond Green, he told Slater that his rehab process has been great. Butler is six weeks away from running at full speed but is fully capable of jumping and diving off his left leg.
