After news emerged on Wednesday about Celtics The 76ers have reportedly agreed to a blockbuster deal to send Jaylen Brown from Boston to Philadelphia, and the basketball world (stunned by the reaction) has been awaiting the first comments from its protagonist.

On Thursday afternoon, Brown officially weighed in. The former Celtic player has now shared a statement addressing his thoughts and emotions, Boston fans, and his new home in Philadelphia.

And here A text From Brown’s full statement:

First and foremost, praise be to God Almighty, even in the midst of adversity. I am here with gratitude.

I’m still processing how this all happened. I’m excited and disappointed at the same time. I have earned my respect from this city. I never asked for shortcuts or special treatment. I simply showed up every day, kept my head down, and accepted every challenge.

The relationships I built here, the battles we had together, the championship we brought to this city, and the connection we shared with the fans, I will carry on with me.

Saying goodbye isn’t easy when you’ve invested your heart into something.

I’m big on respect and actions speak louder than words. To the people of Boston, thank you. To the community I have built here, I love you, and to the Shevaz in which we are trapped for life.

Whenever one chapter ends, another begins.

I’m excited for what’s to come and grateful for the opportunity to join Philadelphia. Every city has its own identity, its own passion, and its own expectations. I respect that, and I look forward to earning that respect the only way I know how, through work.

Philly – Throw the ball up and let’s get it!
