Jamie Foxx and his daughter, Anelise Bishop, shared one of the sweetest moments of the 2026 BET Awards when they took the stage together for a surprise musical performance.
Before joining Kehlani during her performance of “Folded,” Foxx proudly introduced the 17-year-old to the audience.
“This is my daughter Anelise, give it up,” the Oscar winner said as Anelise took her seat with a guitar while Foxx played piano. He told the audience the pair had been “vibing out to” the song all year before singing a few bars alongside Kehlani.Embed from Getty Images
While the performance marked one of their biggest public musical moments together, it was far from the first time the father and daughter have shared the stage.
Back in 2020, Foxx opened up about Anelise’s musical talent, revealing that the then-11-year-old had become an accomplished pianist.
“That’s what’s been good is we have been able to connect like that,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “She plays piano so well, she actually plays my songs while I sing to them. She said, ‘I am going on tour with you.’ I am blessed, we are all blessed.”
Two years later, they made good on that promise when Anelise joined her father onstage during a concert in Dallas, accompanying him on piano as he performed “In Love By Now.”
Their bond took on even greater meaning after Foxx suffered a life-threatening stroke in 2023. The actor has often credited both of his daughters with helping him through his recovery, but he paid special tribute to Anelise in an emotional Instagram post last year.
“They haven’t invented the words that I would need to thank you in the proper way,” he wrote, recalling how she played guitar by his bedside while he recovered.
“You went beyond medicine… and played a miracle. I cannot wait for the world to hear your music because I know you’re gonna bless the world the way you blessed me.”
Foxx shares Anelise with ex Kristin Grannis. He is also father to Corinne Foxx, whom he shares with ex Connie Kline.
