There are a few spring perennials flanking the front steps of this Colonial home in Sherborne—a bucolic MetroWest town (about 25 miles from downtown Boston) that boasts… 50% of its lands They are allocated to open space, incl Farm pond 125 acres.
From the driveway that rises to meet the house on a two-acre lot, a brick path leads to the front door; The large brass eagle door knocker comes with the house.
The 95-square-foot foyer is where the staircase leading to the upper floor is located, as well as access to this home’s common spaces.
This home is a series of interconnected quadrilaterals of varying sizes, starting with the 298-square-foot living room. Hardwood floors run the length of the house, and there are a pair of windows overlooking the front yard. The main adornment is the brick-fronted wood-burning fireplace. None of the fireplaces have been used by the current owners.

A clear glass slider at the back of the living room connects to the 213-square-foot sunroom, where the floors, ceiling and walls are white, opening up the green-painted entryway. The three-season room has exposed beams, a ceiling fan and a skylight. Double doors open to a set of stairs leading to a large wooded plot.
Returning to the foyer and moving to the left is the entryway that provides access to the 135-square-foot dining room, 23-square-foot half bath, and 226-square-foot kitchen.

The dining room evokes an earlier New England era with a muted teal-painted shiplap-style pattern covering the lower third of the walls, hardwood floors, double-hung windows on the front and side walls, and a center light fixture.
A double door brings one to the final quadrangle on this level: the 165-square-foot family room with a brick fireplace, hardwood floors, and double-hung windows on the front and back walls. There are built-in shelving and white-paneled walls.

Next comes the kitchen. The worktops are white laminate offset by honey blonde trim. The cabinets are the same white color and arranged in a horseshoe shape, with a stainless steel sink in the middle. There are three rectangular windows, each with clear glass panels, aligned above the sink. Skylight makes the natural light never lack. Updated appliances, including an electric range, are made of stainless steel.

A staircase in the foyer is the entry point to the upper level, which contains the primary suite and the 563-square-foot screening/bonus room.
The master suite is located at the top of the stairs and to the right. The 234-square-foot bedroom has hardwood floors, three double-hung windows, and currently contains a four-poster bed. There is a 24 square foot walk-in closet. The full bathroom has beige ceramic tiles on the lower half of the walls and as a shower back. The single vanity is a beige porcelain pedestal sink. The floor is tile.

Back in the foyer is the second full bathroom – similar to the master bath, except the tiles are blue and have a shower and bathtub combination. The larger of the two secondary bedrooms, at 157 square feet, is located to the front with three double-hung windows and hardwood floors.
The last bedroom, 138 square feet, has been used as a laundry room by the current owners. Traveling through it is the path to the bonus room. It is a 32-foot rectangle with exposed wood beams crossing the white cathedral ceiling. Originally designed for a previous owner who wanted to display an art collection, there is gallery lighting and a large built-in storage cupboard with drawers of various sizes. A clear glass door leads to the back deck with access to the patio.

The 690-square-foot basement is unfinished. There is an attached garage for two cars.
The home currently rents solar panels for its roof to help with energy costs. It has a heat pump and four separate heat and air conditioning zones. Sherburne has a group purchasing program for electricity.
Alexis Madison of The Powissett Group/Compass has the list. At the time of writing, a conditional offer on the property had been accepted.
