Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were not wearing body-worn cameras during Deadly shooting on ice A Mexican national during an operation in Houston this week, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

The cameras worn by officers “were not issued,” according to a DHS spokesperson, who cited two partial government shutdowns — one in the fall of 2025 and another earlier this year — due to delays in issuing them to ICE officers.

“The procurement and issuance of body-worn cameras for all of our ICE field offices has been halted due to multiple government shutdowns by Democrats,” the spokesperson said. “Body cameras have been deployed in more than half of the field offices and the remaining half will receive them within the next 60 days.”

The update comes as the family of the man killed in Tuesday’s shooting, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, and local officials are pressing for answers and demanding an independent and transparent investigation into the incident.
