Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden, called California Gov. Gavin Newsom the Democratic Party’s “greatest warrior” during an interview posted on social media on Tuesday.
“I think we have an incredibly strong bench,” Biden told Luke Radell in a magazine interview. “I think Governor Newsom is probably the most visible and greatest warrior among us — he really loves the way the president calls out.” Midas Touch.
Biden told Radell that a leader will eventually emerge after Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro have been named.
“But more than anything else, we just have to come together — not just as Democrats,” he said. “I’m kind of tired of the partisan labels. I’m disappointed in a lot of the Democratic Party, its leadership in Congress, and in the United States Senate.”
The former president’s son then praised New York City Mayor Zahran Mamdani.
“I look at someone like Mayor Mamdani, and I feel inspired, absolutely, completely inspired by the way he not only won the election, but the way he leads now,” he continued.
Shapiro, Beshear and Newsom are considered potential 2028 Democratic candidates, but no one has officially announced their candidacy.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who ran in 2024 instead of Biden after the former president decided to withdraw, said she is considering running again in 2028.
Biden’s father returned to his alma mater, Syracuse University, on Tuesday to celebrate the unveiling of his portrait, which will be on permanent display in the law school’s law library reading room.

During his remarks at the event, Biden compared a Black member of the school’s board of trustees to former President Barack Obama.
“I always want to turn to one person and say…’Barack, what are you doing?’” Biden said as the audience laughed.
Hunter Biden, during the interview with Radel, admitted that he is “biased” when it comes to the presidential pardon power.
“I am completely biased in terms of what my father did for me,” he said. “I fully understand how special I am that I was lucky enough to receive a pardon from my father.”
Hunter Biden also pointed the finger at the current First Family in the interview, saying, “I don’t think the Founders ever imagined Donald Trump. I don’t think they ever imagined the Trumps.”
