Lorenzo Musetti and Alexander Bublik will square off in the Hong Kong Open final in what will be a battle of the top two seeds. Both players have had to face a challenge or two during the tournament but managed to overcome them and find themselves in the title clash.
Musetti received a bye to the second round of the ATP 250 event and here, he came back from a set down to beat Tomás Martín Etcheverry 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-4. The Italian then beat Coleman Wong 6-4, 6-4 to set up a semifinal clash with third seed Andrey Rublev. The Russian won the opening set but Musetti bounced back to triumph 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-4 and reach his ninth career final.
Bublik also received a walkover to the second round of the Hong Kong Open and beat Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-3 to seal his place in the quarterfinals. The Kazakh then faced Chinese wildcard Juncheng Chang and registered another straight-set win (6-1, 7-6(2)) to set up a semifinal clash against Marcos Giron.
The American started well and won the opening set 6-3 before Bublik staged a fine comeback to triumph 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 and reach his 16th career singles final.

Bublik has been one of tennis’ finest resurgence stories in recent times, having produced some fine performances since the end of the clay season last year. The Kazakh’s first-serve numbers so far in Hong Kong have been pretty impressive, winning 109 out of 131 points (83.2%) and serving 36 aces. He is among the best servers in the game and will look to attack from the start of the match.
We could have an interesting fixture on our hands but Bublik hasn’t lost his last four finals, and if he is at his best, he has a pretty good chance of winning his ninth ATP singles title.
