Costa Missa man was arrested on Thursday after investigators linked him with the stealing of tens of thousands of dollars from famous anime cards.
The victim called the officers to investigate the theft of his car on Steza Street, according to the Irvin Police Department, and stated that about $ 45,000 in Pokemon and other cards were stolen.
“Pikachu was definitely not happy because his friends were taken,” said Irvine PD in a statement published on social media. “Investigators found a more hot idea than Charizard when they discovered that the suspect was selling stolen online cards.”
The police, the suspect, Paul David Hastings, 53, had identified Costa Missa.
Details are limited, but IRVINE PD shared a video Himing’s detention. Hastings shots show his hands behind his back, sitting next to an officer at the back of the Tarrad.
“Do you have any Pokemon cards?” The officer asks Hastings.
“No,” says Hastings.
“Dang, I was hoping to be arrested all of them,” the officer answered.
Irvin Police Administration did not provide further details about the suspect’s reservation, but he indicated that he was “captured faster than you can throw a bouquet.”
