The Summer House star opened up to Harper’s Bazaar about the end of her friendship with Amanda, and she did not hold back when explaining why she now feels the relationship was one-sided.

Ciara and Amanda’s friendship imploded after Amanda began dating West Wilson, who previously had a romantic history with Ciara. The situation became one of the biggest storylines of the Summer House reunion, with Ciara making it clear that she felt betrayed by both her ex and her former close friend.

Now, Ciara is speaking more deeply about why Amanda’s actions hurt her so much.

“Everyone’s always there for [Amanda]. She never has to be there for anyone. She is always the damsel in distress, always the victim,” Ciara said.

Ciara explained that after six years of friendship, she does not feel Amanda ever truly had to show up for her in the same way.

“In the six years, I don’t think she’s really ever had to be there for me. And not that a friendship is based on reciprocity, but it’s now really clear that there was no type of reciprocity on her side. I tried to hang out outside of filming, check on her, speak life into her,” Ciara shared.

The comments cut deep because Ciara had previously described herself as Amanda’s champion. During the Summer House reunion, Miller confronted Amanda directly over her relationship with West, saying she could not believe she was sitting there upset that Amanda was involved with her ex after years of supporting her.

Amanda and West confirmed their romance in March after weeks of speculation. Amanda had announced her separation from Kyle Cooke in January, while West previously dated Ciara in 2023. The timing and the secrecy surrounding the relationship caused major fallout within the friend group.

Miller has accused Amanda of not being honest when asked directly about West, and the reunion revealed private text messages where Ciara questioned Amanda about whether anything was going on.

Amanda later admitted she should have been more upfront from the beginning.

Ciara also reflected on another painful friendship experience from her past. She shared that this is not the first time she has felt failed by a white woman in friendship.

Ciara recalled being close to a classmate in nursing school, saying the two would have sleepovers and study dates.

“We were thick as thieves,” Ciara said.

But when the classmate got married, Ciara said she invited every girl from their class to be a bridesmaid except her. Ciara was the only Black friend in the group.

That experience, combined with what happened with Amanda, has changed how Ciara plans to move through friendships going forward.

“Now [after the Amanda betrayal], I’ll wear my armor differently,” Ciara said.
