(Crohn’s) – The teenage driver in a fatal Marin County crash in April was in juvenile court Wednesday. KRON4 has learned that charges have been filed against the teen.
A source told KRON4 that the teenage driver was charged with misdemeanor manslaughter with gross negligence. The teen also faces two vehicle violations: driving on a provisional license and speeding.
Last week, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) report revealed that speed was to blame in the April 18 crash that killed four teenage girls.
The accident occurred Friday, just before 7:30 p.m., when a Volkswagen Tiguan crashed into a tree on San Geronimo Valley Road, just west of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The accident caused the car to catch fire.

The victims were identified as Olive Coren, Josalyn Osborne, Sienna Katz and Ada Kepley, aged between 14 and 16 years. They were students from Archie Williams High School in San Anselmo, according to school district officials. The girls were going to sleep.
There is no information on when the teenage driver will return to court. The teen is not in custody.
