The Bucs are moving on from tight end Devin Culp. The team has a released him from the practice squad, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports. In a corresponding move, Auman is also reporting that Tampa Bay is adding tight end C.J. Dippre to their practice squad.
Tampa Bay later on announced that they released safety Rashad Wisdom and signed fellow safety Silas Walter to their practice squad.
What To Know About New Bucs Dippre And Walter
Dippre originally entered the NFL as a college free agent with the New England Patriots in May of 2025. He spent his rookie season between New England’s practice squad and active roster, appearing in two games and primarily playing special teams. Dippre played collegiately at the University of Alabama from 2023 to 2024 and previously a University of Maryland from 2021 to 2022, appearing in 52 career games and totaling 65 receptions for 782 yards and three touchdowns.

In his two seasons at Alabama, he caught 32 passes for 443 yards and was named to the John Mackey Award Watch List in 2024. Dippre recorded his most productive collegiate season at Maryland in 2022, finishing with 30 receptions for 314 yards and three touchdowns.
Walters came to the NFL as a college free agent with the Baltimore Ravens this year in May of 2026 and spent the preseason with the team. He played his college football at Miami University (Ohio) from 2023-25, appearing in 40 career games and totaling 200 tackles, 24 passes defensed, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 2.0 sacks. Walters earned second-team All-Mid-American Conference recognition in 2025 after starting all 12 games and recording 71 tackles, 10 passes defensed, three interceptions and 1.0 sack.

Bucs Tenure Of Culp And Wisdom
Culp was a seventh round pick by the Bucs in 2024 out of Washington. Known for his speed, the team hoped that be can work on blocking and physically to eventually crack into the lineup and more playing time. Culp played sporadically in two seasons with Tampa Bay.
In 2024 Culp played in five games, recording 88 catches. He got in at the end the year, making three catches for 52 yards in Week 17 and two catches for 36 yards in Week 18. He played even less in 2025, getting for just five games and making one catch. It was a significant reception, though, as it was for a touchdown in Tampa Bay’s Thursday night game in Week 14 against the Falcons. That became the first touchdown by a tight end on the season.

The writing was on the wall for Culp when they drafted LSU tight end Bauer Sharp in the 2026 draft and he started making plays early on in mini-camp. While not as fast as Culp, showed better receiving prowess, particularly in the red zone, and was much further ahead as a blocker. Culp hadn’t done enough on the line of scrimmage or receiving, so Tampa Bay went with Sharp and moved Culp to the practice squad before making this latest move.
Wisdom has been with Tampa Bay for two seasons, signing with them as an undrafted free agent out of UTSA. He played in his first career game last season in the opener at Atlanta, making two tackles primarily on special teams. He later played in Week 4 against the Eagles and the season finale at home against Carolina.

During this 2026 training camp, Wisdom was having a pretty good go out of it. He recorded an interception in the first preseason game against the Jets and was in close consideration to make the 53-man roster, but Tampa Bay decided to only keep three safeties.
The Bucs are trying to improve their special teams, which is why they also added cornerback Kevin Knowles to the active roster and let Caden Fordham go. There’s still a lot of musical chairs happening before Tampa Bay starts the regular season.
