The espresso martini craze has officially reached its peak in Boston.

Riding the wave of the cocktail’s growing popularity, Alibi Bar & Lounge, in the Liberty Hotel at 215 Charles St., is set to open what organizers say is the city’s first espresso-martini lounge on Saturday.

The seasonal space features flowers, greenery, string lights and a custom LED tree that changes colors throughout the evening, creating what organizers hope will become a social media destination.

“It’s going to be a really cool Instagram moment,” said Emily Burke of Served Creative, the boutique marketing agency behind the concept. He was sentenced to prison in Boston“.

Burke works alongside Lyons Group, a Boston-based hospitality consulting and management firm that operates Alibi Bar & Lounge.

Recently, Burke helped them create Retro rooma 70s-inspired lounge in Back Bay that serves nostalgic cocktails and food.

Burke said the idea for an espresso martini garden came to her in New York City a few years ago, while attending an espresso martini-themed pop-up.

“I liked the idea very much,” she said. “I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere, and the espresso martini was aesthetically pleasing.”

“We all know the espresso martini is having a big moment in alcoholic beverages right now,” Burke continued.

For the past few years, she’s wondered how she could recreate that experience in Boston. After looking at the patio at Alibi, Burke and the Lyons group decided it would be a good idea to try it there.

“We were trying to breathe new life in there,” Burke said. “It’s obviously a very special space.”

The Liberty Hotel was formerly the Charles Street Jail.

The seven drinks on the menu will reflect that, Burke said. They’re all named after different prisons and feature flavors like cookie dough, tiramisu, and orange crème brûlée.

“We went out of our way to try to create lots of different flavors that not only taste great, but look amazing,” she said.

The feedback has been tremendous.

“DMs are inundated,” Burke said. “The reaction has been really positive.”

“It’s like the perfect storm,” she said. “The weather is finally nice. People are excited to be drinking outside again, so we expect it to be very successful.”
