“Two months ago, I received a call that changed my life: ‘Your biopsy has come back,'” the 42-year-old mother wrote. “It’s positive for breast cancer.”
“After the initial shock wore off, I was so scared. Will I be there to see my little girl grow? Will the doctors be able to treat me? Why did this happen in the first place? I have no family history.”
Edmunds revealed on A Morning broadcast of “JR Morning” The diagnosis was made after she received a clean mammogram last July.
However, about six months after having a clean mammogram, she “felt an itch” and realized something wasn’t right.
“I’m 42 years old. It came out of nowhere. I have a young daughter. It’s very scary. But I have full confidence in the Henry Ford Health team. I think I will get through this,” Edmonds said.
“Once you get the diagnosis, it’s a dark, dark time. It’s scary, it’s dark. It’s going through the motions of life… It’s like you’re a ghost,” she added.

“I could have gone through this privately and done it on my own. But I think the support I’ve had from the breast cancer community and watching other women go through it has helped me tremendously in getting to this point where I can talk about it.”
Edmonds added that her family and friends have “rallied” since her frightening diagnosis, providing her meals and watching over her daughter as she needed comfort.
The presenter has received six chemotherapy treatments so far and will temporarily step back from her morning talk show hosting duties while she focuses on her health.
