DENVER (KDVR) — When people think of feral cats, they think of the scruffy-looking cats, whose silhouettes leap from rooftop to rooftop under the moonlight, and who can bite a fish and clean off its bones, leaving a complete skeleton straight out of a “Tom and Jerry” scene.
What they don’t think about is a white cat with neatly combed fur and a pink bow.
For Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputies, that’s exactly what they found after reports of a cat hanging around a person’s home near South Dayton Street and East Pikeview Avenue.
When they arrive at the site, they discover Lulu, a fluffy Scottish Fold cat wearing a pink bow. Posted on social media The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office described it as “the biggest stray cat we’ve ever seen.”
Deputies said Lulu decided to escape into the streets while she was in the care of a cat sitter.
She was taken and scanned to see if she had a microchip, and lo and behold, she did.
“Her pink bow may have made its way through the neighborhood, but it was her little chip that saved the day,” the post said.
The Sheriff’s Office also wanted to remind the public that Animal Services will not pick up a stray cat unless it is injured or sick. Some cats roam freely and always find their way home.
To ensure their safety, keep them inside and have them microchipped, the post said.
