Kyle Cooke is revealing the moment he realized Amanda Batula and West Wilson’s rumored romance was more than just gossip.
In a revealing new interview with People, the Summer House star opened up about the end of his marriage to Amanda, the shocking news that she had moved on with their costar West and how he began putting the pieces together before Amanda and West publicly confirmed their relationship.
Kyle and Amanda announced their separation in January after years of ups and downs on Summer House. But fans were stunned when Amanda and West confirmed in March that they were exploring a romantic connection, especially because West previously dated Ciara Miller, one of Amanda’s closest friends.
According to Cooke, he was not picking up on the same clues that some of his castmates apparently were.
Despite the “spidey senses” of his castmates, Kyle says he was “oblivious” to the rumors about Amanda and West.
That changed just days before Amanda and West’s relationship announcement, when Kyle noticed Amanda’s phone location. Since the two were separated, the location had not yet been turned off. That is when Kyle says he realized Amanda had spent the night at West’s apartment.
“I couldn’t sleep,” Kyle says.
Cooke then reached out to Ciara, who had also been trying to understand what was happening between Amanda and West. According to Cooke, Ciara wanted to meet in person, which immediately made him feel like something was wrong.
“Ciara is a homebody. She wants to drag herself to my apartment to have a huddle? I had a sinking feeling in my stomach,” Kyle says.
Once Kyle and Ciara met up, they began comparing notes. The two realized the signs were pointing to Amanda and West being more than friends.
Kyle also recalled another moment that made him suspicious. The weekend before the news broke, Amanda had traveled to Los Angeles for work, and rumors quickly began circulating that West was with her.
Kyle says he checked her location and noticed she was at a place that did not feel like Amanda’s usual scene.
“I’m looking at her location and she’s at an Irish dive bar in Southern L.A. I’m like, ‘That does not sound like a spot that Amanda would normally go to. She’s with West. There’s no other explanation,’” Kyle says.
According to Cooke, Amanda told Ciara about her relationship with West one day before the news went public, and Ciara immediately reached out to him.
“Ciara immediately called me and I finally heard from Amanda nine hours later,” Kyle says.
Even though Cooke says he had already gathered several clues, hearing it directly from Amanda was still shocking.
“Even though I already had so many pieces of the puzzle, I was still in disbelief,” Kyle says of his conversation with Amanda.
Cooke added that the situation felt completely out of character for Amanda.
“That’d be so reckless and thoughtless and irresponsible, and Amanda is not usually any of those things,” he says.
The fallout from Amanda and West’s romance has been one of the biggest storylines of Summer House Season 10. Ciara has made it clear that she felt betrayed by both her ex and her former best friend, while Kyle has had to process his estranged wife dating someone inside their friend group.
At the reunion, Amanda and West were confronted about their timeline, why they kept things from the cast and how their relationship affected both Ciara and Kyle. Amanda admitted she should have been more honest from the beginning, while West has said he understands people were hurt.
Still, Kyle’s latest comments give fans a clearer look at just how he found out and how painful the realization was.
