Houston, Texas– Yordan Alvarez hit his 25th home run in the American League, Kai-Wei Ting tossed six solid innings, and the Houston Astros beat the Cleveland Guardians 2-1 on Sunday.
Alvarez hit a solo shot to right center off Slade Cecconi in the first inning. It was his first home run since he hit two runs in Kansas City on June 12, snapping a seven-game streak without a homer.
Isaac Paredes, who had three hits, had an RBI single in the fourth, but the Rangers cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fifth on a groundout by Travis Pazana that drove in Petey Halpin, who tripled.
