Man killed in drive-by shooting in northwest Houston neighborhood, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A man is dead after a drive-by shooting in the Acres Homes neighborhood in north Houston on Monday afternoon, according to police.

The Houston Police Department said homicide detectives are investigating the shooting that was reported near the intersection of Dalview Avenue and Yorkdale Drive. According to HPD, officers responded to the scene after receiving a call about a possible drive-by shooting.

Authorities confirmed that a black man was shot several times. But officials did not reveal the identity of the victim.

According to investigators, the victim knew the suspects and went on a ride with them in a black Chevrolet pickup truck. When the victim got out of the car near Dalview Street, he was shot multiple times, police said. The pickup truck then drove away, officials said.

Authorities said no one is currently in custody. HPD said the incident remains under investigation, with investigators collecting security footage from the area. Officials said anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact HPD or Crime Stoppers.
