HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A fatal crash was reported on Kuykendahl Road in northern Harris County, resulting in the truck sustaining significant front-end damage, SkyEye13 photos showed.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said one person died as a result of the crash.
An ABC13 helicopter was over the wreck Friday afternoon, and photos of the aftermath showed the truck behind an 18-wheeler.
Photos taken by SkyEye13 showed the truck sustaining severe damage behind the 18-wheeler.
Pictures showed that the truck’s bumper and hood had been torn off, and a white liquid had spilled onto the road. Law enforcement officers closed the street while the investigation was ongoing.
According to deputies at the scene, a truck with a trailer was parked in the lane waiting to turn into a construction site, when a pickup truck collided with it from behind. The truck driver was rescued from the vehicle and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the large platform had all of its flashlights and protective lights on at the time of the accident. They added that it is unknown whether the deceased man was distracted or suffering from some type of medical incident.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
