UFC fighter Josh Hokit found himself in hot water over his comments about former First Lady Michelle Obama last week. The controversial comments came after Hokit knocked out Derrick Lewis at the UFC Freedom 250 event held on the White House lawn last Sunday evening.
Cam Newton Delivers Stern Warning to Josh Hokit
During a segment of the “4th and 1” podcast, former NFL MVP Cam Newton blasted Hokit for his comments directed at the former First Lady and delivered a stern warning to the UFC fighter.
“In our culture, we don’t play about certain individuals. Certain people are untouchable,” Newton said. “If you utter anything disrespectful about an Obama, it doesn’t matter if it’s the daughters, it doesn’t matter if it’s the wife… They [are] some good people, they served this country well. See, that was an innocent bystander… But Mr. Josh, you [are] going to stay away from that one. We don’t play about that one.”
“Who knows whether he was in his right or wrong mind,” Newton added. “But at the end of the day… be very careful and be very mindful, the people who you ain’t cool with or who you don’t like… The fact that even Joe Rogan was taken aback. That was tasteless. You’re doing way too much… Brother, please think about what you said, because that was stupid.”
Immediately after the event at the White House, UFC CEO Dana White also strongly criticized Hokit for his remarks aimed at the former First Lady.

Stephen A. Smith Slams Donald Trump for Hokit’s Remark
During a segment of “Straight Shooter With Stephen A,” ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith slammed President Donald Trump for his reaction to Hokit’s comments directed at the former First Lady.
“It was a spectacular event. It was ruined by the one (expletive) who was fighting in the octagon who said that Michelle Obama was a man,” Smith said. “That was an incredibly disparaging remark about one of the greatest first ladies, if not the greatest first lady we have seen.”

“It was a disgusting thing to say. It was inexcusable,” Stephen A. added. “When he said it, Trump smiled. It was denounced, thank God, by Dana White, the president and CEO of the UFC… This should have immediately been denounced by the president. But he doesn’t do that enough. And that’s the problem. He comes across as an individual that emboldens.
It was not the first time that Hokit had commented on the gender of a prominent personality in the country. Earlier this year, after defeating Denzel Freeman at UFC 324, the polarizing fighter ended his interview with a dig at Connecticut Sun center Brittney Griner.
