The arrests come as police try to identify sex trafficking gangs during the World Cup, police said.
Police said they arrested seven men at a Boston hotel last week for allegedly soliciting prostitution, as part of police efforts to identify sex trafficking groups during the World Cup.
The men were arrested at 200 Stuart Street, the address of the Revere Hotel in Bay Village, on Saturday as part of a police operation to curb sex trafficking rings during the soccer World Cup, Boston police detailed in an incident report sent to Boston.com.
Police said they had launched the investigation, officially dubbed “Operation Red Card”, to identify people advertising women and children on commercial sex websites.
One officer wrote that state police remained undercover throughout the investigation.
On June 13, police arrested Angelo Furtado, 54, Darren Franceske, 24, Matthew Fitzpatrick, 26, Mahayai Pastor Vinitha Thero, 32, Sundararajan Vaidyanathan, 56, Timothy Citoros, 42, and Yaseen Ahmed, 19, for their alleged role in a prostitution ring, Boston Police Department. All were charged with sex for a fee in downtown Boston Municipal Court, police said.
The Revere Hotel did not respond to a request for comment Monday evening.
No lawyer information or phone numbers were listed in court databases as of Monday evening.
