Utah Red Rocks’ Gymnast Avery Neff Expresses Gratitude After Head Coach’s Praise Post First 10 of 2026 season

Avery Neff shared her gratitude for the University of Utah coaching staff after she posted her first perfect 10 of the 2026 season. The 19-year-old also received big praise from the Red Rocks head coach, Carly Dockendorf.

Neff is regarded as one of the top gymnastics prospects in the United States and has made an excellent start to the 2026 season. She landed a perfect 10 score on vault this past weekend on the back of a sublime Yurchenko 1.5 at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad.

While Utah finished fourth behind Oklahoma, LSU, and UCLA at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad, Neff delivered a performance of the highest quality on the vault. The display was praised by Red Rocks head coach Dockendorf, who praised Neff’s commitment to the team’s cause.

“Scores her first perfect 10.0, looks for her vault coach Mike, gives him a huge hug and thanks him, then turns around and starts cheering for Utah [red heart emoji]. #webeforeme,” she wrote on her Instagram story.

Neff then shared Dockendorf’s post on her Instagram story and thanked her Utah coaches and teammates for their unwavering support. She wrote, “The best coaches and team I could ask for!! [red heart emoji].”

Next up for the Utah Red Rocks is the Best of Utah meet on Monday, where they will face more tough competition from Utah State, BYU, and Southern Utah.

“An Amazing Feeling” – Avery Neff on Her Perfect 10

Avery Neff shared her delight after earning a perfect 10 score at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad at the Maverik Center on Saturday. The Utah sophomore said afterwards that getting the score was an “amazing feeling.”

“To feel that I was perfect today was an amazing, amazing feeling,” Neff said (via the Salt Lake Tribune). “It’s always good to help bring up the energy and things like that. I think that’s exactly what it did.”

Neff also looked ahead to the Best of Utah meet, where the Red Rocks will be eyeing their first win of the fledgling season.

“I think even our bars, even if we had some hiccups. But I think we’re just taking this into Monday and just having it fuel our fire for Monday.”

During her freshman year, Neff was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and was also named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team. She was also the all-around and vault champion in the Regional, and helped the program finish fourth in the NCAA Championships. With added responsibility as a sophomore, Neff is now primed for another strong year with the Red Rocks.
