San Jose restaurant serving Thai-inspired brunch staples opens near SJSU

(Crohn’s) – San Jose State students now have an additional option for off-campus brunch. Villa Brunch and Thai Restaurant It opened last week at 346 E. Williams St., which is about a block from campus.

Breakfast and lunch are served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., which is also the restaurant’s operating hours. The restaurant is closed, then dinner hours are 4:30 PM to 9 PM, and business hours are the same seven days a week.

According to owner Ronabob Satayasombon, Villa has signed a three-year lease for the space located steps from the college campus.

For brunch, Satayasombon recommends three dishes: Fella Omelet, Khao Soi Crispy Chicken Benedict and Shrimp Cake Benedict.

The restaurant occupies the space previously occupied by Santi Thai Fusion. VeLa is under a completely different ownership group and is not a new Santi Thai Fusion brand, Satayasombon said.

VeLa is located approximately one block from other off-campus restaurants on E. William Street. They include Cali Spartan Mexican Kitchen, Spartan Taco Truck, and TK Noodle #1.

“We are all a new team and a completely new business,” Satayasombon said. The restaurant revealed on its website the meaning behind its name.

“Fila means ‘time’ – and here, time is the secret ingredient in everything we serve,” the website notes. “From brunch dishes to timeless Thai dinners, every dish invites you to stop, savor and share the moment.”
