(KRON) – The Fremont Police Department said investigators fired a “less-lethal” projectile at a suspect’s car after its driver crashed into investigators’ cars several times at a car wash.
FPD said its investigative unit recovered a vehicle on Oct. 22 suspected of committing “several commercial robberies of businesses and temples in Fremont and other Bay Area cities.”
Fremont police said the vehicle had a stolen license plate when it was discovered in the undisclosed nearby city.
When the car stopped at a car wash, police said the driver got back into the car when investigators attempted to arrest her.
“She got into her car and collided with the investigators’ cars several times,” police said. “Investigators used a less-lethal projectile to smash the rear window, and the subject fled on foot.”
Police later arrested the woman and took her into custody, FPD said. She was not identified at the police station surrounding the incident.
FPD confirmed that she was not hit by the projectile but did not say if any investigators were injured in the incident.
It is not clear what charges she faces.
